I admit it: I cannot tell the difference
between generic brand oatmeal and the real thing.
It's sort of funny how some shapes are so
pleasing to the eye. Stairs, sometimes. And circles and arches. Symmetrical
things. Repetition. Odd-shaped squares, like silhouetted skylines. I like
these two streetlamps, the way they make this funky curve and have a bit of
color on the end.
A long time ago, I made what I thought was a
really good photograph. I showed it to my father, who pointed to this tiny
nail that was barely visible. "This is what makes the photograph," he said.
"Without that nail, you've got no picture, no balance."
It's more than barely visible, but I think the
second streetlamp makes the balance here.
