So it looks like I'm updating this site about once a week now. That's really frustrating for several reasons, but I also think it's probably natural.

When I started taking these culinary classes, I made a lot of jokes about going "back to school." But honestly, I didn't mean it — I expected things to be much easier, and far less time-consuming, than they've turned out to be.

I'm in class about 17 hours a week now, which is more than I spent in lectures for most of the four years it took to get a journalism degree. I massively underestimated how much time and energy culinary school would take, and doubly so when placed on top of the demands of a full-time job.

That doesn't make it less frustrating to be updating Team Wet Dog only once a week, but it does explain it pretty well. All the time that had been spent shooting photographs is now mostly directed at food. For the first time, it seems like there really aren't enough hours in the day.

So like I said, it's frustrating but also natural. And I'll try and get more done this week ...

On a few other notes: I'm not a fan of zoos in general, but I did walk through the National Zoo this weekend and shot this photo of Tai Shan. As cute as he is, he didn't do much beyond sit there and eat some leaves while I was there — though on a day as gorgeous as Saturday was, that's not far off what I did the rest of the time.

Also, just a reminder for anyone who can make it, Sunday I'm doing the book opening for Twelve Dreams: a transcription. For more details on the opening, check here.  I'm pretty nervous about doing this opening and distributing this book — more nervous than I've ever been doing photography exhibitions.

The writing process just seems so much more personal and transparent. And I guess I worry that for all the time I spent on this project, I suddenly find myself doubting if people will take it seriously. Basically, I'm bouncing off walls these days, so if you're in the D.C. area I can use all the support I can get.
